Character And Process Description
Oundle is a co-educational independent day and boarding school woven into the historic Northamptonshire market town from which it takes its name. Rather than being contained on a single isolated campus, its houses and teaching buildings are part of town life. Oundle is notable for combining serious academic study with outstanding engineering, design and science opportunities, as well as music, theatre, sport and a lively boarding community.
Both 11+ (Year 7) and 13+ (Year 9) are established entry points, with Year 9 the main intake; the school does not publish fixed numbers for each route. At 11+, applicants generally take English, maths and cognitive-ability assessments in Year 6, followed by an interview, with boarding candidates experiencing an overnight stay. For 13+, families generally register during Years 5–6; offers may be made in Year 6 and are confirmed through Oundle entrance papers, scholarship examinations or Common Entrance in Year 8.
