Descriptive Writing
Sevenoaks is a co-educational day and boarding school with a notably international outlook and a wooded campus in Kent. It is especially distinctive for its Sixth Form International Baccalaureate programme rather than the usual A-level pathway, and its pupils represent many nationalities. Day and boarding pupils share academic, arts, sporting and service activities, although boarding is offered only from age 13.
Around 80 pupils join at 11+ into Year 7, all as day students, while about 100 join at 13+ into Year 9, including approximately 60 boarders. For 11+, candidates normally take an ISEB pre-test (or an accepted equivalent such as the Kent Test where appropriate), followed by the school’s subsequent selection stages. Year 9 applicants can choose Early Decision, normally applied for during Year 6, or Later Decision, applied for during Year 7, each with separate assessment and offer arrangements.
