Robots in Education

Primary & ElementaryAdvancedDiscursive Writing

Write a balanced discussion exploring whether robots and Artificial Intelligence (AI) could ever fully replace human teachers in the classroom.

Your writing must:

  • Explore both sides: Consider the potential benefits of AI and robotic technology in education, alongside the unique value of human teachers.
  • Structure your argument: Present a clear, logical comparison of both perspectives before reaching a reasoned conclusion.
  • Engage your reader: Use persuasive language, formal discursive tones, and clear paragraphs to present your ideas.

💡 Writing Tips

  • •
    • Imagine a robot teacher: What could it do well? (e.g., explain maths, show cool videos, answer questions super fast).
  • •
    • Now imagine your favourite human teacher: What special things do they do that a robot couldn't? (e.g., make you laugh, understand if you're sad, help you make friends).
  • •
    • Try to write one paragraph about why robots could be good, and another about why human teachers are special.
  • •
    • Start with a sentence that introduces the question (e.g., "Some people wonder if robots could teach us...").
  • •
    • Finish with a sentence that shares your final thought (e.g., "So, while robots could help, I think humans are best for teaching.")

📝 Sample Answer

Could robots ever teach us instead of real people? It's an interesting question!

On one hand, robots could be super helpful in school. Imagine a robot that could explain every maths problem perfectly, or show you amazing facts about dinosaurs with cool videos. They could answer questions really fast and never get tired. Maybe they could even help us learn new languages by talking to us all day. This would be a new way to learn!

However, I don't think robots could ever truly replace human teachers. Teachers understand how we feel; they know when we're happy or sad. They tell funny jokes, encourage us when we find things hard, and help us make friends. A robot might give us information, but it couldn't give us a hug or understand why we're upset. Human teachers make school a warm and friendly place.

So, while robots could be great assistants in the classroom, bringing lots of new technology, I believe the special qualities of human teachers, like kindness and understanding, are something no machine could ever copy.
