💡 Writing Tips

  • •

Think about times you've saved for something special (like a toy) or spent money straight away (like on sweets).

  • •

For 'saving', explain why it's a good idea for big things later, like a new bike or a holiday.

  • •

For 'spending', explain why it's nice to enjoy things now, like a comic or a treat.

  • •

Try to give reasons for both saving and spending, like you're having a friendly debate with yourself!

  • •

Finish by saying what you think is the best balance for managing money.

📝 Sample Answer

Imagine you get £10. Should you spend it straight away on sweets and a comic, or save it? It's a tricky question because both saving and spending have good points!

If you spend your money, you get to enjoy things right now. You could buy a new toy, some yummy treats, or go to the cinema. This makes you happy in the moment, and it's fun to have new things. Sometimes, life is about enjoying today, and money can help with that.

However, saving money is also a very clever idea. If you put your £10 in a piggy bank, and then add more each week, soon you could have enough for something really big, like a new video game or a special trip. Saving teaches you patience and helps you reach bigger goals. My mum always says, 'Look after the pennies, and the pounds will look after themselves!'

I think it's important to do a bit of both. It's nice to treat yourself sometimes, but it's also smart to save for bigger things. That way, you get to enjoy life now and plan for exciting things in the future too!
