Many schools in the UK ask pupils to wear a uniform, and there are lots of different ideas about whether this is a good thing. On the one hand, uniforms can make everyone feel more equal. If everyone wears the same clothes, nobody feels left out or like their clothes aren't 'cool' enough, which can stop teasing. They also make schools look very tidy and can help pupils remember they are part of a team, which some grown-ups believe helps with discipline.
However, uniforms can also stop pupils from showing who they really are. If you love bright colours or have a favourite band t-shirt, wearing a uniform means you can't show your unique style. Sometimes, uniforms can also be uncomfortable, especially if they are scratchy or too warm in summer. It would be nice to choose clothes that feel right for you and let you express your individuality.
