Robots in Daily Life?
The Prompt
Imagine a world where robots are everywhere, not just in sci-fi movies! We already see them in factories, building cars, and sometimes even vacuuming our floors. But what if robots became a much bigger part of our everyday lives, like helping with homework, cooking dinner, or even looking after our grandparents?
This type of writing is called 'discursive', which means you get to explore both the good things and the not-so-good things about an idea. For this task, we want you to think about robots in our daily lives.
What amazing things could they do to help us? Think about how they might make our lives easier, like doing boring chores or helping people who need extra care. But also, what worries might we have? Could robots take away jobs from people? Could they make mistakes or even be unsafe?
Your job is to discuss both the exciting possibilities and the important concerns. Finish by sharing what you think – are robots a brilliant idea, or should we be careful?
💡 Writing Tips
- •
Think of two good things robots could do and two things to worry about.
- •
Use examples from real life or your imagination (e.g., a robot vacuum, a robot helper for grandma).
- •
Start with an introduction, then talk about the 'good' side, then the 'worry' side, and finish with your own opinion.
- •
Use words like 'however', 'on the other hand', or 'but' to show you're moving between ideas.
- •
Remember to explain why something is a good idea or why it's a worry.
📝 Sample Answer
Imagine waking up and a robot has already made your breakfast! Robots are popping up everywhere, and soon they might be a big part of our daily lives. On one hand, having robots around could be amazing. They could do all the boring jobs we don't like, like tidying our rooms, washing dishes, or even helping our grandparents get dressed and remember their medicines. This would give us more time for fun things like playing and learning.
However, there are also things to worry about. If robots do too many jobs, what will people do for work? Cleaners, shop assistants, or even factory workers might find robots doing their jobs instead. There's also the question of safety – what if a robot broke down or made a mistake? Could it cause an accident? It's a tricky thought. While robots could make life easier, we need to think carefully about how they fit into our world so they help us without causing new problems.
