Threatening Landscape Description
The Perse Upper School is the senior section of a co-educational independent school in Cambridge, combining academically stretching teaching with an energetic programme of science, technology, music, sport and outdoor pursuits. Its links with the wider Perse family of schools give it a through-school dimension, but it also welcomes pupils from many other primary and preparatory schools. The school emphasises curiosity, personal initiative and participation beyond the classroom.
The Upper School has established 11+ (Year 7) and 13+ (Year 9) admissions routes, although it does not publish a dependable fixed number of new places at each point. Candidates apply directly and normally sit assessments in the academic year before entry; these involve academic tests, a group activity and an informal interview about interests and enthusiasms. For both Year 7 and Year 9 entry in September 2027, the school scheduled an assessment day in January 2027. Applications and testing are in person, including for overseas candidates.
