Choose Good Role Models
The Prompt
Writing Category: Persuasive Writing
Title: Be a Smart Role Model Chooser!
Have you ever noticed how many people look up to sports stars, pop singers, or even characters from their favourite TV shows? It's natural to admire people! But sometimes, the people we see in the spotlight might not always be the best examples to follow in our own lives.
Your task is to write a persuasive letter to your younger brother or sister (imagine they are about 7 or 8 years old). You need to convince them why it's super important to choose positive role models β people who set a good example and inspire us to be our best selves.
Think about:
- What is a role model? Someone we look up to and want to be like.
- Why are positive role models important? How can they help us grow, make good choices, and be happy?
- What qualities should your sibling look for? Should they choose someone who is kind, honest, hardworking, brave, helpful, or always tries their best? Give them some ideas!
Your letter should be friendly but firm, making a strong case for why choosing wisely matters. Remember, you're trying to persuade them, so give good reasons and examples! Make sure your letter has a clear beginning (Dear...), middle (your reasons and ideas), and end (Love from...).
