The Prompt

Imagine our classroom is having a big debate about sharing! We all have our favourite pens, special books, or even just our turn on the computer. But what about sharing? Is it always the best thing to do, or are some things just too personal to share?

Your mission is to write a powerful persuasive piece (like a mini-speech or an opinion article) for our class discussion. You need to choose ONE side and convince everyone why your view is the right one!

Option A: Sharing is caring! Argue why sharing our toys, books, and even school resources is super important. Think about how it helps us make friends, builds a strong, happy community in our class, and makes sure everyone has a fair chance. Why is being generous a good thing for everyone?

Option B: My stuff is my stuff! Or, you can argue why personal property and individual belongings should be respected above all else. Why is it important to have things that are just yours? Why might sharing sometimes lead to problems or unhappiness? Why should we respect someone's decision not to share their special things?

Whichever side you choose, make sure your writing is convincing! Use strong reasons and examples to get your classmates to agree with you. Your goal is to make your argument so clear and strong that others will want to listen and understand your point of view.

💡 Writing Tips

  • Pick one side: Decide if you're arguing FOR sharing or AGAINST it. Stick to that one clear message.

  • Give reasons: For every point you make, explain WHY it's important. Use words like 'because' or 'this is important so that...'.

  • Use strong words: Powerful words like 'essential', 'vital', 'unfair', 'crucial' can make your argument more convincing.

  • Think about the other side: What would someone who disagrees with you say? Try to show why your argument is still better.

  • Start strong and end strong: Grab your reader's attention at the beginning and leave them with a clear, memorable message.

📝 Sample Answer

Sharing our things, especially at school, is absolutely vital for a happy classroom! Imagine if no one ever shared their coloured pencils or their spare ruler – some people might not be able to finish their amazing artwork or their maths sums. When we share, we're not just being kind; we're helping everyone succeed. It builds strong friendships too, because when you share your favourite book with a friend, you're showing them you trust them and care. Sharing creates a feeling of teamwork and community, making our classroom a much more welcoming and fair place for everyone, not just a few.
