Pleasant Smell

Primary & ElementaryEasyFoundational Writing

Imagine you are walking along, and suddenly, a wonderful smell floats past your nose!

Your Task Write a short paragraph of 3 to 5 sentences describing one of your favourite pleasant smells.

Things to include:

  • The Smell: What is the smell? (For example: freshly baked cookies, a rose, or clean laundry).
  • The Details: What does it remind you of, and how does it make you feel?
  • Descriptive Language: Use precise adjectives to help your reader imagine the smell (like warm and buttery, light and floral, or fresh and zesty).

Try to paint a picture with your words so the reader can almost smell it too!

💡 Writing Tips

  • •

Choose your absolute favourite nice smell! Is it freshly baked bread, a blooming rose, or a clean towel?

  • •

Use exciting words to describe the smell. Is it sweet, spicy, fresh, earthy, or something else?

  • •

Where do you usually smell it? Does it make you feel happy, cosy, hungry, or calm?

  • •

Try to use your other senses too! What might you see, hear, or feel when you smell it?
