The Prompt

Hello, amazing writers! Get ready to share a secret about your very best friend – your favourite toy!

Imagine you're chatting with a friend, and you want them to know everything about the toy that means the world to you. What makes it so incredibly special?

Your mission is to write a short paragraph, or a few clear sentences, bringing your special toy to life for us.

  • Describe it like a detective: What does it look like? Is it a cuddly teddy bear, a speedy car, or a magical doll? What colour is it? Is it big and bouncy, or small enough to fit in your pocket? Is it soft and squishy, or hard and shiny? Does it make any funny noises or do something amazing? Use your senses!
  • The 'Why' is important: This is the most important part! Why does this particular toy have a special place in your heart? Is it because of a fantastic adventure you had together, a happy memory it reminds you of, or perhaps because someone very special gave it to you?
  • Make us feel it too! Use words that help the reader almost see, feel, and hear your toy. Let your passion shine through!

πŸ“ Sample Answer

My favourite toy is a scruffy, old teddy bear called Barnaby. He's a warm, chocolatey brown colour, with one ear that flops over and a nose that's been loved so much it's nearly worn off! He’s not very big, just perfect for cuddling, and his fur feels incredibly soft, even after all these years. Barnaby doesn't make any sounds, but he's a brilliant listener. He's special to me because my Grandma knitted him for me when I was born, and he's been on every single holiday and adventure I've ever had. He always makes me feel safe and happy, no matter what.
