The Prompt

My Favourite Season: A Descriptive Snapshot

Hello young writers! Today, we're going on a journey through the year to find your absolute favourite season. Is it the vibrant colours of spring, the sunny warmth of summer, the cosy hues of autumn, or the magical sparkle of winter?

Your task is to write a short piece, around one or two paragraphs, all about the season you love the most. We want you to tell us why it's so special to you and paint a picture with your words for your reader.

As you write, try to include:

  • What you see: Are there bright flowers, golden leaves, or glistening snow?
  • What you feel: Is it warm and sunny, or cold and snuggly? What's the weather like?
  • What you do: What are your favourite activities or traditions during this time?
  • What you hear or smell: Maybe birds singing, rain pattering, or the scent of freshly cut grass or woodsmoke?

Use your best descriptive words to help your reader imagine your favourite season right alongside you!

💡 Writing Tips

  • Describe what you can see, hear, smell, and feel during that season.
