Beach Sight

Primary & ElementaryEasyFoundational Writing

The Prompt

Imagine you are standing on a sandy beach, feeling the gentle sea breeze and listening to the waves. Your task is to become a super-observant writer! Look around (in your imagination, or from a picture) and pick just one fascinating thing that catches your eye. It could be a shiny shell, a busy crab, a soaring seagull, or even a piece of driftwood.

Once you've chosen your 'beach sight', your mission is to describe it using your best words. Don't just say what it is, tell us what it looks like! What colour is it? Is it big or small? What shape is it? Where is it sitting or moving? Use descriptive words (adjectives) to paint a vivid picture for your reader. Your writing should be a short paragraph, around three to five sentences long, focusing only on that one special thing you've spotted.

💡 Writing Tips

  • Choose just one interesting thing you can see at the beach.

  • Think about its colours, shape, and size.

  • Where exactly is it? Is it on the sand, in the water, or flying?

  • Use exciting words to describe it, like 'sparkling' or 'jagged'.

  • Try to write 3 to 5 clear sentences.
