The Prompt

Imagine you are sitting by your favourite window at home or school. What can you see right now? We want you to become a 'window detective' and write a short paragraph, or a few brilliant sentences, about the view outside. Don't just list things; try to make your reader see and feel what you describe!

Think about:

  • What colours jump out at you? (e.g., bright red, dull grey)
  • What shapes do you notice? (e.g., round wheels, pointy rooftops)
  • Is anything moving? (e.g., a car, a person, leaves on a tree, a cloud)
  • What can you hear through the window? (e.g., birds chirping, distant traffic, rain falling)
  • What time of day is it? How does this change your view? (e.g., bright morning sun, twilight shadows)

Use your best descriptive words to paint a picture with your words. Let's see your wonderful window world!

💡 Writing Tips

  • Look closely! What colours, shapes, and sizes can you spot?

  • Use exciting words (adjectives!) to describe what you see, like 'sparkling' or 'tall'.

  • Don't just say what it is, say what it's doing! Is the bird flying? Is the car zooming?

  • What can you hear through the window? Maybe a dog barking or cars driving by.
