The Prompt
Imagine you're on an incredible adventure! Perhaps you're digging in the garden, exploring a secret cove on a desert island, or rummaging through a forgotten corner of your grandpa's attic. Suddenly, your shovel hits something hard, or your foot nudges a hidden object. You've found it – a mysterious treasure chest!
Your mission is to describe this amazing discovery. Don't just tell us you found a chest; show us! What does it look like on the outside? Is it made of dark, splintered wood, bound with rusty metal, or perhaps sparkling with jewels? How big is it? What does it feel like when you touch it? Does it smell dusty and old, or salty from the sea?
Now, for the exciting part: what's inside? Is it overflowing with shimmering gold coins, sparkling diamonds, ancient maps, or perhaps a strange, magical artefact? Describe the colours, the textures, and the sounds as you carefully lift the lid. Make your reader feel like they are right there with you, sharing in your amazing discovery!

My heart hammered like a drum solo as my spade clanged against something solid. Buried deep beneath the gnarled roots of the old oak tree, I uncovered it – a treasure chest! It was a gnarled, wooden box, dark with age and encrusted with dried mud and tiny, clinging roots. Rusty iron bands criss-crossed its surface, holding the ancient planks together. A heavy, tarnished brass lock, shaped like a grumpy sea monster, guarded its secrets. With trembling fingers, I prised it open. Inside, nestled on a bed of faded velvet, lay a cascade of glittering gold coins, each one catching the sunlight. Alongside them, a compass with a wobbly needle, a handful of smooth, iridescent pearls, and a rolled-up, brittle map, its edges crumbling, promised adventures yet to come.
