Pet Description
The Prompt
Wonderful World of Pets!
Get ready to bring your favourite furry, scaly, or feathery friend to life with words! In this descriptive writing task, you'll paint a picture of a pet using only your imagination and vocabulary.
Your Mission: Choose one pet: either a pet you have right now, a pet you used to have, or even a dream pet you wish you could have!
What to Describe: Think about all the wonderful things that make your chosen pet special.
- Appearance: What do they look like? Think about their size, colour, fur/feathers/scales, eyes, tail, and any unique markings. Are they tiny and sleek, or big and fluffy?
- Personality: Are they playful, sleepy, mischievous, cuddly, or shy? How do they act?
- Sounds: What noises do they make? A gentle purr, a happy bark, a quiet squeak?
- Feelings: How does it feel to stroke their fur or hold them?
- Actions: What are their favourite things to do? Do they chase balls, nap in sunbeams, or climb trees?
Imagine you're introducing your pet to someone who has never seen them before. Use exciting adjectives (describing words) and adverbs (how they do things) to make your description so clear that the reader can almost see, hear, and feel your amazing pet!

📝 Sample Answer
My cat, Luna, is a sleek shadow that glides through our house. Her fur is as black as a moonless night, except for a tiny white patch like a secret star hidden on her chest. Her eyes, two bright emeralds, watch everything with quiet curiosity. When she yawns, her tiny pink tongue peeks out, and sometimes she stretches her long, elegant body until she looks like a furry noodle. Luna loves to nap on the warmest patch of carpet, purring like a tiny motor when I gently stroke her back. But when a feather toy appears, she transforms into a lightning-fast hunter, pouncing and flipping with surprising energy. She might seem a bit aloof, but every evening, she curls up on my lap, a warm, soft weight, and kneads her paws, telling me she secretly loves our cuddles.
