Snow Play Fun
The Prompt
Imagine waking up one morning and looking out your window to see the world transformed into a sparkling white wonderland! It's a snow day, and school is out, or maybe it's the perfect snowy weekend.
Your challenge is to write a fantastic descriptive piece about all the amazing fun you can have playing in the snow. We want to feel like we are right there with you, crunching through the drifts and feeling the frosty air!
Think about:
- What does the snow look like? Is it soft and fluffy, or icy and crisp? Does it sparkle like diamonds?
- What does it feel like? Cold on your cheeks, wet on your gloves, powdery under your boots?
- What can you hear? The quiet hush of falling snow, the laughter of friends, the crunch of footsteps?
- What exciting things do you do? Do you roll giant snowballs to build a towering snowman with carrot nose and pebble eyes? Do you have a super-speedy sledge race down a big hill? Or maybe you have an epic snowball fight, ducking and weaving behind snow forts?
- How does it make it you feel? Filled with joy, excitement, a bit chilly but wonderfully happy?
Use lots of brilliant descriptive words (adjectives) and action words (verbs) to paint a vivid picture for your reader. Make us shiver with cold and giggle with delight as we read about your snowy adventure!

📝 Sample Answer
I burst out the back door, my breath puffing out in white clouds. The garden was a dazzling blanket of fresh, untouched snow, sparkling like a million tiny diamonds under the winter sun. My boots crunched loudly as I took my first careful steps, sinking into the soft, powdery drifts. A huge grin spread across my face as I scooped up a handful of freezing, fluffy snow. It tickled my nose as I packed it into a perfect snowball. 'Snowball fight!' I yelled, launching it towards the old oak tree, ready for a day of frosty fun.
