Imagine you are on a normal walk through your local woods when you stumble upon something truly extraordinary and magical. Your task is to continue the story from this discovery.

Story Constraint: Your story must begin with this exact sentence:

"While exploring the local woods, I found a tiny, shimmering pocket of air, vibrating with an unknown language."

Things to consider in your writing:

  • Sensory details: Describe what you see, hear, feel, and smell around this strange phenomenon.
  • Character reaction: Show how you feel. Are you brave, terrified, or intensely curious?
  • The plot: What happens next? Does the pocket of air expand, pull you inside, or reveal a glimpse of another world?

💡 Writing Tips

  • •

What does the 'pocket of air' look, sound, and feel like? Use your senses to describe it!

  • •

How does the character react to this strange discovery? Are they curious, scared, or excited?

  • •

What happens when you get closer or try to touch it? Does it change or do anything surprising?

  • •

Where could this mysterious pocket of air lead? Is it a message, a portal, or something else entirely?

  • •

Use exciting adjectives (e.g., 'mysterious,' 'glowing') and adverbs (e.g., 'cautiously,' 'suddenly') to make your writing vivid.

📝 Sample Answer

While exploring the local woods, I found a tiny, shimmering pocket of air, vibrating with an unknown language. It hung between two ancient oak trees, pulsing faintly like a jellyfish caught in sunlight. I cautiously reached out a finger, feeling a strange tingle as if static electricity was dancing on my skin. The air inside it swirled with colours I’d never seen before – electric blues, fiery oranges, and deep purples that whispered secrets. The unknown language sounded like wind chimes made of crystal, mixed with the murmur of a distant ocean. A thrill, half excitement and half fear, zipped through me. What if it was a portal? What if it was trying to tell me something?
