Lost Toy's Great Journey
Imagine what happens to a favourite toy after it goes missing. In this creative writing task, you will write a story from the first-person point of view of a lost toy.
Your Task: Write an imaginative story about your adventure after getting lost, using "I" and "my" to tell the story as the toy.
Key Elements to Include:
- The Toy: Who are you? (e.g., a teddy bear, action figure, doll, or toy car).
- The Journey: Where do you travel? Describe the sights, sounds, and feelings of being small in a massive world.
- The Challenge: What obstacles or dangers do you face? This could be bad weather, a playful pet, or navigating a busy street.
- The Characters: Who do you meet? Think about other forgotten toys, helpful animals, or kind strangers.
Be descriptive and focus on the toy's changing emotions—whether you feel scared, brave, lonely, or excited during your great journey!
💡 Writing Tips
- •
Choose a toy you remember well. What was it like? Was it soft, shiny, fast, or cuddly?
- •
Think about WHERE it got lost. Did it roll under a bed, fall out of a bag, or get left in a park?
- •
Imagine the first thing it saw or felt after being lost. Was it dark, scary, exciting, or lonely?
- •
Give your toy feelings! How would it feel to be lost, then to make new friends, or face a tricky situation?
- •
Plan 3-4 exciting things that happen on its journey before you start writing.
📝 Sample Answer
My name is Zoom, and I used to be the fastest little red racing car in Leo's toy box. One sunny afternoon, I zoomed off the picnic blanket and rolled right under a big, thorny bush. I waited and waited, but Leo never found me.
It was dark and a bit scary at first. Then, a brave beetle with shiny green wings scurried past. "Lost?" he buzzed. "Follow me! The garden gnomes have a secret racetrack!" I carefully followed him, my wheels bumping over roots and stones. We met Barnaby the ladybird, who helped me push a pebble out of my way. Together, we raced through towering grass, past giant dandelions, until we reached a miniature track made of smooth stones. It was the most exciting race I'd ever been in, even without Leo!
