📝 Sample Answer

Detective Ace Miller peered through his magnifying glass at the empty display case. The school’s beloved mascot, Professor Hoot, a rather dusty stuffed owl, was gone! This wasn't just any missing item; Professor Hoot had been locked safely inside the headmaster's office.

Ace knelt, his sharp eyes scanning the polished floor. There, near the window, was a tiny, fluffy feather – not an owl's feather, but a bright blue one. He also noticed a faint, muddy paw print, much too small for a dog. This was getting stranger. The window was slightly ajar, just enough for something small to squeeze through.

Following the faint trail of blue feathers outside, Ace spotted a glint in the overgrown rose bushes. He carefully parted the thorny branches. There, nestled amongst some twigs and leaves, was Professor Hoot! And next to him, a shiny, blue button, exactly matching the feather. Ace smiled. It wasn’t a master thief after all. It seemed a very determined magpie had decided Professor Hoot's blue button would make a magnificent addition to its nest, and had dragged the whole owl out through the window! Case closed.
