Letter to a Character
The Prompt
Imagine you could send a letter straight into the magical world of your most-loved book! Your exciting task is to write a personal letter to one of the characters from your absolute favourite story.
Think about:
- Which character would you choose? Why them?
- What amazing things have they done in their story that you admire?
- What questions do you have for them about their adventures or challenges?
- Would you offer them advice, congratulations, or even a friendly warning?
- How do you feel about their journey and what they've achieved?
Write your letter as if you are genuinely sending it to them. Make sure to include all the important parts of a proper letter:
- Your address (you can make one up!) and the date.
- A friendly greeting (e.g., 'Dear Hermione,').
- Clear paragraphs where you share your thoughts, questions, or advice.
- A suitable closing (e.g., 'Your fan, Alex' or 'Best wishes, Sarah').
Let your imagination fly and bring your favourite book character to life through your words!
💡 Writing Tips
- •
Choose a character you know really well – someone you have lots to say to!
- •
What do you want to tell them or ask them? Maybe you have a question about their adventures or some advice for them.
- •
Remember the parts of a letter: your address (or a made-up one!), the date, a greeting (like 'Dear Harry'), paragraphs for your message, and a friendly closing (like 'From, [Your Name]').
- •
Try to imagine how the character might react to your letter – this helps you think about what to write!
