📝 Sample Answer
My footsteps echoed along the school corridor. Usually, this was the noisiest place I knew, full of laughter, slamming lockers and people calling across one another. Now the lights hummed above an empty row of coat pegs, and the building seemed to be listening.
In the classroom, the chairs stood neatly behind their desks. Yesterday's date was still written on the whiteboard. A forgotten pencil lay beside the radiator, and the faint smell of felt-tip pens hung in the cool air. Through the window I could see the playground shining with dew, untouched by running shoes.
I pushed open the library door. The familiar rows of books looked taller in the half-light, and the clock's ticking sounded almost too loud. For the first time, I could hear rain tapping against the skylight. I felt strangely important, as though the school had opened its doors just for me, but also a little uneasy. Every distant creak made me turn around.
Then came the scrape of a key in the main entrance. A caretaker's whistle floated down the passage, followed by the heavy clunk of a bucket. I smiled with relief. The school was waking up, and soon its silence would disappear altogether.
