St Paul’s School is a highly selective boys’ school occupying a remarkable 45-acre Thames-side campus in Barnes, with space for rowing, sport, science, engineering, music and theatre. Founded more than 500 years ago, it pairs an intensely academic environment with significant co-curricular freedom. The linked St Paul’s Prep School shares the campus and provides an important pathway into the older senior school.
At 11+, approximately 36 boys enter St Paul’s Prep in Year 7 and normally progress to St Paul’s School in Year 9. The principal senior-school intake is at 13+, when a Year 9 cohort of about 198 is formed, roughly half from the prep school and half from external schools. Both the 11+ and deferred 13+ routes are usually assessed in Year 6 through ISEB testing and further English/maths assessments and interviews; families normally choose one route and cannot apply for both.
