About North London Collegiate School

North London Collegiate School (NLCS) is a long-established academically selective girls’ day school in Edgware, with a reputation for intellectual independence, scholarship and an exceptionally broad co-curricular culture. Its grounds and facilities support strong music, performing arts, sport, debating and science, while an international network of sister schools adds a global perspective. The senior school combines a demanding education with emphasis on individuality and pastoral care.

The normal Senior School entry is at 11+ into Year 7. Around 70–75 external girls are admitted annually, joining approximately 45 transferring from NLCS Junior School. Candidates take English and maths entrance examinations and selected applicants attend a roughly 30-minute interview that includes additional verbal questions; current-school references are considered. There is no fixed 13+ intake: a limited number of Year 9 occasional places may arise, but not necessarily every year.
