About Harrow School

Founded in 1572, Harrow is a boys’ full-boarding school on Harrow on the Hill, where traditional houses, distinctive uniforms and school customs remain central to its identity. Its extensive estate contains sports grounds, performing-arts spaces, woodland and even a working farm. A strong boarding community and wide-ranging academic and co-curricular life are designed to develop leadership, confidence and independence.

Harrow admits approximately 160 boys each year at 13+ into Year 9 and does not offer normal 11+ entry. The principal 13+ assessment begins in Year 6 with the ISEB Common Pre-test and a confidential school reference; shortlisted candidates then attend the Harrow Test, which includes an interview, computerised English and maths assessment, and group activity. Offers are normally conditional on subsequent Year 8 Common Entrance or scholarship examinations. Limited later-entry and Sixth Form routes also exist.
