Stormy Night View
The Prompt
Imagine you're tucked up warm inside, gazing out of your window on a truly wild night. The wind is whipping, the rain is lashing, and the sky is putting on a dramatic show! Your task is to capture this stormy scene in words, making your reader feel like they are right there beside you, peeking out at the chaos.
Think about using all your senses. What do your eyes see? Is it completely dark, or are there sudden bright flashes of lightning? Do the trees outside look like they're dancing wildly? What about the rain – is it a gentle drizzle or is it hammering against the glass?
What sounds fill the air? Is the wind whistling a spooky tune, or is it roaring like a hungry beast? Can you hear the distant rumble of thunder, or perhaps the sharp crack of it close by? Don't forget the sound of the rain itself – does it tap, drum, or splash?
Use powerful adjectives (describing words) and strong verbs (action words) to paint a vivid picture. Instead of 'the wind blew hard', try 'the furious gale shrieked'. Make your writing come alive! Let's see if you can make your readers feel the chill and hear the storm, all from the safety of your written words.
