Sunny Park Day - Descriptive Writing Writing Prompt

The Prompt

Imagine the sun is shining brightly, and you've just stepped into your favourite park. What an amazing day! Your task is to write a descriptive piece all about a wonderful, sunny day spent there.

Think about using all your senses to bring the park to life for your reader.

What can you SEE? Are the trees a vibrant green? Is the sky a brilliant blue? Are there colourful flowers or children playing?
What can you HEAR? Perhaps the cheerful shouts of children, the gentle rustle of leaves, or the distant chirping of birds?
What can you SMELL? Freshly cut grass, blooming flowers, or maybe a yummy ice cream van nearby?
What can you FEEL? The warm sun on your skin, a gentle breeze, or the soft grass beneath your feet?

Try to use exciting adjectives (describing words) and adverbs (how something is done) to paint a vivid picture with your words. Think about similes (e.g., "the sky was as blue as a sapphire") or metaphors (e.g., "the sun was a golden coin in the sky"). Make your reader feel like they are right there with you, enjoying every moment of this perfect park day!
