The Prompt

Imagine this: One sunny afternoon, you're helping out in the dusty old garden shed when, tucked away behind some rusty tools, you spot something extraordinary. It's a small, smooth seed, glowing with a soft, gentle light, almost like a tiny captured star. Curiosity bubbles inside you! You decide to plant it in a pot, just to see what happens.

To your amazement, as soon as it touches the soil, a miniature tree bursts forth, growing taller and wider right before your eyes! It's no bigger than your hand, with shimmering leaves and tiny, jewel-like fruits. You carefully pick one. It smells faintly of old books and laughter. When you take a bite, an incredible sensation washes over you – the fruit tastes exactly like forgotten memories! Perhaps a memory of your first wobbly bike ride, or a long-lost toy, or even a moment you didn't even know you'd forgotten.

Your task is to continue this magical story! What happens next?

  • What specific memory do you taste? Describe it in detail using your senses (what you see, hear, feel, smell).
  • Does the tree grow bigger? Do more fruits appear?
  • Do you tell anyone about your discovery? How do they react?
  • Does this magical tree bring new adventures, challenges, or perhaps help you remember something important?
  • Think about how the story could develop. What is the main event or problem caused by this memory-fruit?
  • Remember to use exciting words and describe what you see, hear, smell, touch, and taste to make your story come alive!

💡 Writing Tips

  • What happens right after you eat the fruit? Does a memory appear like a movie in your mind?

  • Describe the memory! Who is in it? What sounds, sights, or feelings are there?

  • Does anyone else see the strange tree or try the fruit? How do they react?

  • Think about the magic: Does the tree grow? Does it only appear at certain times?

  • Use exciting words to show, not just tell, what is happening in your story.

📝 Sample Answer

I cautiously bit into the shimmering fruit. Immediately, my bedroom faded, replaced by a flash of vivid green. I was tiny again, sitting on the soft grass, watching a ladybird crawl across my finger. My mum’s laugh, light and musical, floated on the air as she picked a daisy chain for my hair. I could almost feel the warm sun on my skin and the tickle of the grass. It was a memory from when I was only three, completely forgotten until now! When the memory faded, I was back in the shed, clutching the half-eaten fruit. My heart thumped with excitement. This wasn't just any tree; it was a memory-maker! I wondered what other forgotten moments it held. Carefully, I picked another fruit, a deep purple one this time, and held it up to the light, already imagining the adventure it might unlock.
